RE: Personal Lines Underwriting / Smart Underwriting Management System (SUMS)

Dear Bill,

We are pleased that we have implemented SUMS in the underwriting process for personal lines. After our pilot month we were able to make an informed decision on how we should approach renewal updating of our aging book of business.

As you know Farmers Mutual does not have a formal renewal questionnaire to update the underwriting information at renewal time. Based on conversations we had with other carriers we found that the return rate is less than 20% when contacting an insured directly on trying to obtain measurements of their home or building updates.

SUMS was the answer to how can we update the information easily, keep the agent informed and provide the policyholder with a valuable service to protect one of their greatest assets through replacement cost evaluations.

You have given us the ability to customize the SUMS report, Website access for our agents to view reports on line (we constantly receive compliments on having this information available 24/7) and updating our book of business.

Your employees are responsive to our inquiries or when a Farmers agent calls. We are at the starting point of creating a process using SUMS that reduces the time spent by an underwriter reviewing each report without sacrificing underwriting integrity.

With this type of underwriting services provided by UPRO you provide the smaller mutual carrier like Farmers Mutual of Salem County with cutting edge technology at an affordable cost.

Sincerely,
