Fair Credit Reporting Guideline

Information for P&C Underwriting

UPFRO completes field inspections for underwriting insurance policies.  Based on the information provided in these inspections, your underwriting department may elect to:

  • Cancel the policy.
  • Send a "Fix it" letter to the insured.
  • Adjust the Replacement Cost - Coverage A (and consequently the premium).

If the policyholder or applicant wishes to contact UPFRO to find out what was in the report, or to contest the accuracy of the information in the report, they should be directed to do so only by writing to:

Fair Credit Department

UPFRO ASSOCIATES, INC.

1800 Bay Avenue

Building 1 Suite 2F

Point Pleasant, NJ 08742

The following must be included:

  • Policyholders or applicant's Full Name.
  • The Name of the Insurance Company.
  • The Policy Number.
  • Specific Questions that should be addressed (commonly the reasons cited in the letter of cancellation or fix-it letter they have received).
  • Their Signature - allowing the release of this information.

UPFRO responds by letter.

REMEMBER

UPFRO merely gathers physical information for your underwriting department.

It is not UPFRO's responsibility to make decisions or interpret your underwriting policies that may directly or indirectly affect a client's policy.

Please review UPFRO's Fair Credit Reporting Brochure.  This is mailed out with each response.
